Vineyard Vibes (2024) is all about getting the party going. I kick off with some familiar 90s BBQ joints, but then I shift into some more pop-friendly and upbeat sounds. The playlist never strays too far away from R&B, but the general vibe is bright and bouncy throughout.
When I posted Summer Vibes, I mentioned that I do a set of playlists every summer. This year I had a hugely overly ambitious thought to make a massive playlist that had 16-odd hours of music. That was what Summer Vibes started as. But I eventually was forced to acknowledge that I bit off too much to chew at once, so I broke up that massive playlists into smaller ones. This is one of the offshoots.
You will likely recognize the familiar voices in Usher, Victoria Monet, Beyonce, and Ariana Grande. But I also wanted some artists that were newer to me. BlackDoe comes with Korean R&B. Arin Ray isn’t “new,” but I don’t think he gets the burn he deserves. And don’t get me started on the beautiful voice of Rae Khalil – she sounds like a calm day at the beach. This playlist is nothing but bangers IMHO, and you’ll hear perfect beach tracks in “Somethin’ They Ain’t Got” by Cynaa-Nicole and Buto, “GROOVE WITH ME – A COLORS SHOW” by MAUIMOON, “Tellin’ U” by Sidibe and MonoNeon, “Crash My Car” by JHart, and “Stay A While” by Jordan Astra and cocabona.
I’m a heavy fan of letting the music set a light but soulful mood. R&B has been evolving and expanding more and more lately. It can be overwhelming, but I enjoy hearing the new voices and the new takes on genre. I hope you enjoy it too.
